Retirement Visa

(1) General:

          In pursuit of a tranquil place reachable to attractive natural sites, exquisite art and culture, Thailand is a sanctuary where retirees can find out how to live and dwell here for a long stay.

          Thailand’s beautiful traditional culture and wonderful natural delights make this one special place in the world where many of the retired are seeking to stay.

          The Thai Retirement Visa shall be issued for the foreigners who are age 50 or older and are interested to live in Thailand for an extended stay not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working.



(2) How to get visa:

     2.1 The applicant must be 50 years of age or older by the date of application

     2.2 The applicant cannot be prohibited from entering the Kingdom of Thailand

     2.3 The applicant must have no criminal record against the security of Thailand or the country of his/her nationality, or the country of his/her residence.

     2.4 The applicant must be of the nationality or resident in the country where his/her application is submitted.

     2.5 The applicant must not have prohibitive diseases as indicated in Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E.2535)

     2.6 The applicant cannot be allowed to work in Thailand

(3) Criteria for Consideration for visa extension:

     3.1 The applicant shall be granted a non-immigrant visa (Non-IM)

     3.2 Must be 50 years of age or older

     3.3 Proof of Total Income of no less than Baht 65,000 per month or

           Proof of fixed or saving bank account in Thailand of no less than Baht 800,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant shall have proof of a deposit in which said amount of funds shall be maintained for no less than 60 days prior to the filing date, or

          The applicant must have annual earnings and funds deposited with a bank totaling no less than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date.

     3.4 An applicant who entered the Kingdom before October 21,1998 and has been consecutively permitted to stay in the Kingdom for retirement shall be subject to the following criteria:

          a) Must be 60 years of age or over and have an annual fixed income with funds maintained in a bank account for the past three months of no less than Baht 200,000 or have a monthly income of no less than Baht 20,000.

          b) If less than 60 years of age but not less than 55 years of age, must have an annual fixed income with funds maintained in a bank account for the past three months

          of no less than Baht 500,000 or have a monthly income of no less than Baht 50,000.



(4) Required Documents:

     4.1 Application Form

     4.2 Copy of Applicant’s passport

     4.3 Proof of Income such as a retirement pension, interest or dividends; and/or

     4.4 Certified proof of Account deposited (Saving / Fixed Account) that issued by a Thai Bank and a copy of a bankbook

     4.5 Only in the case of 3.4, the applicant must submit the relevant documents to be equivalent to Clause 3.1-3.3 as mentioned above

Remark: Additional documents may be required at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.
