Non-Immigrant Visa Category “ED”

Purpose of Visit: This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to study or do an internship in Thailand.

Documents Required:

1. Your actual Passport or Travel Document. (Passport or Travel Document must not expire within 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page).

2. One original visa application form completely filled out (black and blue ink only) (Download)

3. Two passport-size photographs (2″x2″) (photocopy or photo taken from Photostat will not be accepted). Photographs must have a light color background with a full- face view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses and covering up shoulders. Photos must be taken within 6 months.

4. A copy of flight confirmation/reservation, showing going from US to Thailand and leaving from Thailand (The name of the applicant must indicate clearly)

5. A copy of a recent bank statement (The name of the applicant must indicate clearly), In case of submitting a family bank statement, a proof of relationship (i.e., birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided.

6. Original letter of acceptance from the concerned schools/ universities or institutes in Thailand

**if you would like to get a multiple entry visa, we require that schools/ universities have to provide those details in an invitation letter**

7. Original letter from the schools/ universities or institutes stating that applicants are visiting Thailand for education purposes

8. For minor under 20 years old, please provide following documents

    - Notarized copy of a birth certificate

    - Notarized copy of marriage certificate, in case of sole custody notarized copy of court order must be provided.

    - Notarized copy or original passports or ID of mother and father/ legal guardian

    - Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/ legal guardian

All supporting materials that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations and certified by an embassy only.



Visa Extension

In the case of study in a private educational institution:

Criteria for Consideration 

The alien must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).

Said educational institution is permitted to operate by a relevant government agency.

The alien must have been confirmed and requested by that particular educational institution.



The alien must have been confirmed by the relevant government agency (except in the case of study in an international school and higher education).

Documents to be submitted: Application form

Copy of applicant’s passport

Copy of evidence of permission to establish the educational institution issued by the relevant government agency

Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay, issued by the educational institution,  which shows detailed information about the applicant’s years of education, level of curriculum, and educational achievement

Confirmation letter issued by a government agency at the departmental level or by the Provincial Governor in charge of that particular institution (except in the case of enrollment in an international school or in the case of higher education)



In the case of study in a government educational institution:



Criteria for Consideration 

The alien:

Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).

Must have been confirmed and requested by that particular educational institution. Documents to be submitted:

Copy of applicant’s passport

Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay, issued by the educational institution,  which shows detailed information about the applicant’s years of education, level of curriculum, and educational achievement



In the case of a teacher, professor, or expert in a government educational institution:



Criteria for Consideration 

The alien:

Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).

Must have been confirmed and requested by the particular educational institution. Documents to be submitted:





Application form

Copy of applicant’s passport Copy of work permit

Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay issued by the educational institution, specifying the applicant’s title, monthly salary rate, and term of employment

Copy of a teaching license or a certificate of license issued by the Teacher’s Council of Thailand or a copy of a letter of waiver issued by the Teacher’s Council of Thailand or a copy of an

acknowledgment of waiver request issued by the Teacher’s Council of Thailand (except for teachers,

instructors, or experts of higher education)



In the case of a teacher, professor, or expert in a private educational institution:



Criteria for Consideration 

The alien:

Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).

Said educational institution is permitted to operate by a relevant government agency.

The alien must have been confirmed and requested by the particular educational institution.



Documents to be submitted (For education in school system such as general education, English program schools, vocational schools that follow the Ministry of Education’s curriculum, and international schools):



Application form

Copy of applicant’s passport Copy of work permit

Copy of evidence of permission to establish said educational institution issued by the relevant government agency

Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay issued by the educational institution, specifying the applicant’s title, monthly salary rate, and term of employment, together with a copy of a letter of teacher appointment in the format required by the Private Education Commission

Copy of a teaching license or a copy of a certificate of license issued by the Teacher’s Council of Thailand or a copy of a letter of waiver issued by the Teacher’s Council of Thailand or a copy of an acknowledgment of waiver request issued by the Teacher’s Council of Thailand

Documents to be submitted (For education in non-school system): Application form

Copy of applicant’s passport Copy of work permit

Copy of evidence of permission to establish said educational institution issued by the relevant



government agency

Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay issued by the educational institution, specifying the applicant’s title, monthly salary rate, and term of employment

Copy of a letter of teacher appointment in the format required by the Private Education Commission

Documents to be submitted (For institutes of higher education): Application form

Copy of applicant’s passport Copy of work permit

Copy of evidence that permission has been granted to establish said educational institution issued by the relevant government agency

Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay issued by the dean of the educational institution specifying the applicant’s title, monthly salary rate, and term of employment
